Eleven Australian Visa grants for Down Under Visa clients in the last three days. And these are all for prospective marriage visas and partner visas. I haven’t even counted the tourist visa grants.

That makes eleven happy couples with Australian Partner Visas. Twenty two people whose lives have changed for the better, and who will soon be together permanently. We really do love our job!
The thing is that this is how visa grants work. Sometimes it goes very quiet and we don’t get many grants, then suddenly we get a rush of them. And time of visa application lodgement has nothing to do with it. We tell our clients that fiancee visas and spouse visas take an average of six months to process, and this is true. Some of these grants took three-and-a-half months, whereas others took eight-and-a-half months! That’s an average of six months! And it wasn’t the “good ones” taking longer and the “bad ones” being quicker.
And the other issue is that (and I’m sure they’re too happy right now to mind me saying this) some of them had contacted us over the last few weeks in fairly emotional states, assuming that things must have been going horribly wrong. We don’t worry about our applications at all, because we know what we’re doing. We don’t submit anything we’re not confident about. We give you the right migration advice, the right visa requirements to suit your individual case, and we check your visa requirements (documents and assorted relationship evidence) thoroughly before completing the DIAC visa application forms. This is the job of a Registered Migration Agent. No vexatious applications, and always act in the best interest of the client! They’re not “bad guys” at the Australian Embassy. I’m sure they’ve enjoyed granting the visas as much as we’ve enjoyed getting to pass on the good news. Sound applications will always get good results.

Its good to know this info, and how they tend to approve the visas in groups. Our application went in just over 6 months ago – my wife came here on a 3 month tourist visa which was absolutely fantastic, but now its just a waiting game. It is hard knowing that we cant even find out on the progress of the application. Everyday I get asked how long before my wife comes here – I just answer that it could be a week, a month or 3 months. We always knew it would be tough in this waiting time, but compared to having the rest of our lives together it really isn’t that long.
This site is great Jeff so we can see that things are happening, and not to worry about the time taken.

It went to 18 grants that week, Rob. Yes, it tends to happen that way. And as you could see, they were a mix of quick ones and slow ones. No first come, first serve. You’re still waiting on yours, yet we had a grant last week that took less than 3 months! What you say about it being short when you have the rest of your lives ahead of you, this is very true. She’ll be there soon enough, and all this anxiety will fade into your personal history. And we DO tend to value what we have to struggle for far more than the things that happened easily.
