Overseas Filipino Workers, also known as “OFW’s”.

It’s been said that there are many countries that would practically grind to a halt if their Filipino workers all went home. Countries like Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, or even Singapore, you cannot go anywhere without seeing Filipinos working. And countries like Hong Kong largely depend on a huge workforce of Filipinas working in their households and raising their children. You will find Overseas Filipino Workers in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (Dubai and Abu Dhabi), Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Israel, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Japan.

Why are they there? They are there to earn the higher salaries that these countries offer in order to support their families. Many work overseas for decades, often foregoing seeing their own children grow up, and some even forego the possibility of marriage altogether so they can make a better life for their siblings and to give their parents a comfortable retirement. Many are single mothers who refused to give up their kids to adoption (or worse), and made the sacrifice of living away from their homes for years in order to give their children good lives. OFW’s in general are arguably the cream of the crop. Hardworking and driven, yet not for personal gain.

Yes, I have a soft spot for OFW’s. I married an OFW from Hong Kong, and I know what I’m talking about when I say they are often the best of the best.

Yes, Down Under Visa also manage applications for Australian Partner Visas (aka spouse visas, fiancee visas, prospective marriage visas, de facto visas) for OFW’s from all those countries. We apply in those countries where the Filipina ladies are living. In doing that we are still doing what we love doing and what we do best, which is helping make stable marriages between Australians and Filipinos happen and bringing families together.
